We visited Tropea in the first half of April.
We visited Tropea in the first half of April. The weather was pleasant and the city wasn´t crowded. Many of the restaurants and bars were still closed before the real season start but there were still plenty of options. Parking wasn´t very easy (and I expect to get some fines in the upcoming weeks).

I was there out of season.
I was there out of season. Many restaurants in Tropea were shut but enough. More opened at the weekend.
Public transport seems limited to the trains. Tropes is on a branch line and at best the trains are every 2 hours. There are lots of beaches to explore.
Access to the hills. Would require some research.

Tropea was an awesome little town!!
Tropea was an awesome little town!! Very quaint, plenty of restaurants, gellato stores and little shops! It has the perfect mix of stores, food, and outdoor activities. I WISH I had planned a longer stay, would go back here in a heartbeat!

The historic town is mostly pedestrianised or traffic restricted, and although heavily populated by tourists it is big enough not to be overwhelmed (at least that was the case in September). There is a lot of good historic architecture from a variety of periods, and many good restaurants. The beaches are not large, but are within walking distance of the town centre, but you need to be prepared for climbing lots of steps to get to them from the town.

It's a small town with a lot of ancient history.
It's a small town with a lot of ancient history. I highly recommend taking the time to read up on the history of Tropea - how it was founded, how old it is and many other awesome historical facts about it.
Tropea is not just a beach or resort vacation - I am always excited about the crooked streets, the food, the scenic views and the amazing vibe of the place and the people.
Makes me want to come here again and again!
One last tip - sunscreen, hiking shoes and a basic Italian vocabulary will make your visit perfect )
We were very satisfied with the apartment. It had everything we needed for a comfortable stay and was cozy. The location of the apartment was ideal: close enough to the sea, there are several grocery stores nearby, the train station is within walking distance, and not far from the center where life is boiling in the evening. The owners were helpful and friendly and recommended us the best beaches and restaurants that were really worth visiting. We will definitely return again on our next trip to the south of Italy.
This is our second visit to Don Carlo and it definitely won’t be our last! We absolutely love the central location, amazing hosts, comfortable modern furnishings and the delicious freshly cooked breakfast on the terrace! Huge thank you to Karina for all the recommendations for food, ice cream and drinks in the area! The avocado toast was especially delicious and the freshly baked croissants with Pistachio - best breakfast in Italy so far! See you again next year, hopefully for longer this time! ❤️
The staff was exceptionally gracious, warm, helpful, friendly, knowledgeable. The rooms and breakfast area were extremely clean with gorgeous views. The location was within the historical center but also close to access the central stairs to the beach. They had umbrellas for guests to use, a washing machine, assisted with dinner reservations and arranging transportation and even offered to drive us to the train station. This was truly an oasis within an already spectacular area of Italy.
This is a family run B&B, and you can feel their dedication and hospitality when you come here. The location is perfect if you are coming by train. The rooms are clean with nice balcony to relax. The old town is 10 - 15 minutes away by foot. The breakfast was divine, the best we had so far in Italy. Everything is homemade and Antonio will make sure you don't lack anything and that everything is to your taste. We would always come back here if we visit Tropea again.
Manuela was there at our arrival to hand out the keys of the apartment. She was very kind and helpful.
The apartment has a well equipped kitchen and sitting outside in the garden is very lovely. We had our best stay during our trip in south Italy
We pressed our own orange juice with the oranges in the garden.
Would recommend going by car, but city and beach of Tropea are reached by approximately 10 minutes walk
Amazing place near the beach. Clean and confortable room. Easy to find. Amazing host. It does have an area for camping but, being off season it was empty. Does have roosters and chicken which for me was great because I felt It made my experience more realistic instead of a regular hotel. Animals stays away from rooms since its a big place. Great for families.
It is one of the most beautiful towns in Italy. Really beautiful with a wonderful atmosphere, with historical monuments, beautiful greenery and original wonderful restaurants in small streets. beautiful view from the ramparts to the blue-green sandy beaches. Undoubtedly, together with Capo Vaticano, there are also the most beautiful beaches in all of Italy.
Very nice grounds, and wonderful home made breakfast!
The room wasn’t what we booked, it was quite a bit smaller and with a not too functional Round Bed ! Ceiling too low on one side that you kept hitting your head if not careful !
Location ok, but if you had a car a little away from Centro Storico ( Historic Center)of Tropea
My husband and I absolutely loved it, we felt totally relaxed from the moment we checked in. The staff are very accommodating and breakfast was the best we have had in Italy. The music by the poolside was definitely a highlight for us as well. We will be back here in the future.
This little gem of a hotel was clean, comfortable and great value for the money! the location was convenient and quiet! Ultimately the best asset was the people that work there! from the front desk, to cleaning staff, to the breakfast room we found the best people anywhere!
Everything was absolutely perfect, Monica was wonderful and made an amazing breakfast. We had the best view every night for the sunset and it was close to all the restaurants, will definitely come back on our next trip to Tropea!
This was a unique BOUTIQUE property in beautiful Tropea only steps to the amazing beach! The room was perfect for 3 people. The bed was super comfortable and the shower had great water pressure with many jets and options!
It was out of the hustle of the city but a very short drive to get into the city if you wanted. Staff were extremely friendly and the property was very nice. Breakfast in the morning was the best we had in Italy so far.
Really good location, only a few minutes walk to the beach. Staff was friendly and always asked if everything was alright. If you want to swim at one of the best beaches in Italy, I recommend coming here :)
An amazing find - everything was perfect. This place should be on a list of 'luxury boutique hotels'. Personal touch, immaculate, huge apartment, stunning views of the sea and great location in town.
small boutique property
very friendly and attentive staff
